About the book

In a dimension that is invisible to humans and inhabited by magical beings, four companions embark on a journey to free a friend and a large number of pollinating insects from the clutches of a diabolical wizard who is himself captivated by the most powerful Sorceress ever known.

The heroes are sustained in their quest by humour, affection, courage and loyalty as they battle the age old evils of greed, cruelty and unfettered ambition.

In this light hearted but dark edged fantasy traditional fairy tale creatures tackle their own twenty first century environmental problems.

Reader's Reviews

This magical world is wondrous - 4 out of 5

This magical world is wondrous from the very start you are giving incredibly vivid descriptions of the world and the characters you are stepping right into.

You get sucked in and transported instantly to this fantasy world with our fairy leads that go on an adventure to save their friend, they are loyal, brave and determined throughout. Not only are we on an adventure but in a land so beautifully described you can see it before you, we also meet bees and wizards too which add to the fantasy magic of this world. This story is so uniquely written, I don’t think I know of a book that is written quite like this one before, it is so whimsical and is so vividly described on every page. It has a sweet and important message about the environment which is rare to find in books and most especially in a fantasy book, I loved that addition to it. The friendship between the characters is so wonderful and you will love them instantly. It also features some classic nursery rhymes within the story which is really clever, poetic and enhances exactly how unique this story is.I do highly recommend this story to anyone that loves fantasy books, as I know any fantasy readers out there are just going to fall head over heels with this cleverly crafted and beautifully unique fantasy story.

I think this book would be suitable for the 10+ age group as is has a lot of vivid detail and use of quite long words that the younger middle ager might struggle with. Though I can see this being an absolute favourite to so many children as it is such a whimsical and wonderful fairy fantasy world.

About the author & the illustrator

Jane & Emily are a mother & daughter story telling team. Some years ago Emily was doodling some rough fairy creature ideas. It sparked an idea in Jane and she turned them into the characters within this fantasical adventure story.

Jane Taylor - Author

Jane Taylor is a retired secondary school teacher of Chemistry and Science who now lives near Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire.

She spends a great deal of time writing fiction, biographical and autobiographical stories, and some poetry but this is her first published work.

Honey Mountain was inspired by her daughter Emily’s illustrations, some of which are included in the book.

Jane set out to write a modern fairy story, alluding as it does to some twenty-first century environmental problems, but one that also stays true to young people’s fondness for humorous fantasy, for heroism and for action-packed adventure. The cast of characters has a strong female lead who sees the struggle through to a dramatic conclusion while a couple of other characters at loggerheads with each other manage to forge an unlikely friendship out of adversity
