This magical world is wondrous - 4 out of 5
This magical world is wondrous from the very start you are giving incredibly vivid descriptions of the world and the characters you are stepping right into.
You get sucked in and transported instantly to this fantasy world with our fairy leads that go on an adventure to save their friend, they are loyal, brave and determined throughout. Not only are we on an adventure but in a land so beautifully described you can see it before you, we also meet bees and wizards too which add to the fantasy magic of this world. This story is so uniquely written, I don’t think I know of a book that is written quite like this one before, it is so whimsical and is so vividly described on every page. It has a sweet and important message about the environment which is rare to find in books and most especially in a fantasy book, I loved that addition to it. The friendship between the characters is so wonderful and you will love them instantly. It also features some classic nursery rhymes within the story which is really clever, poetic and enhances exactly how unique this story is.I do highly recommend this story to anyone that loves fantasy books, as I know any fantasy readers out there are just going to fall head over heels with this cleverly crafted and beautifully unique fantasy story.
I think this book would be suitable for the 10+ age group as is has a lot of vivid detail and use of quite long words that the younger middle ager might struggle with. Though I can see this being an absolute favourite to so many children as it is such a whimsical and wonderful fairy fantasy world.

A beautiful world which I think will be a fascinating read for children - 5 out of 5
Jane Taylor has created a beautiful world which I think will be a fascinating read for children. Her descriptions are vivid and characters are unique. As an adult, I enjoyed reading the book and am very sure children would love to read it too!!
I specially liked the part that it’s just not a story about magical creatures but also takes on an environmental issue as well. I found that to be a really important must have in a children’s book as it helps to impart some wisdom too. Definitely recommend it to any parent looking for a good read for their child.

A delightful, fantastical adventure! - 5 out of 5
From the first page, I was utterly charmed by this book. I grew up on fantasy, and growing up I’ve lived through the shift where dark fantasy and grimdark became the popular norm. So it’s always so nice and refreshing when I can step into a world full of fun and whimsy, to the point where I feel like a kid again. The characters are each delightful and unique, the setting is bright and colorful, and the story is fun and adventurous. It also has a good message, both for kids and adults, cleverly woven into the plot. Also, as someone who was brought up on classic nursery rhymes, I greatly appreciated the occasional references incorporated into the story. A wonderfully joyous read that left me grinning from ear to ear!

This book heads into a rich fantasy world - 4 out of 5
This book heads into a rich fantasy world, where spunky fairies delight with their personalities while darker situations settle in.
I was surprised how well-developed this world is. The author allows each personality to unfold with depth, individuality, and fun quirks and attitudes. Details sprinkle in, which allow the scenes to come to life and place vivid settings, which feel as if they could be real. Fantasy fans will enjoy diving in and getting lost in this world.
This is a book about fairies, the type that live in nature and take their responsibilities along with a good dose of fun. The dialogue holds clever humor and lets each characters personality shine, making them to love or dislike. Because of this richness and the slightly higher vocabulary, I see this as a better fit for the upper end of the middle grade group.
The pacing in this one is steady the entire way through and adds wonderful bouts of tension. Friendship, courage, and determination are key, but this one also touches upon environmental issues, which offers a refreshing twist. I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed the richness of this one.

Ideal present for any child with an imagination and a love of books - 5 out of 5
Jane Taylor has written the kind of book I'd love to have read as a little girl, creating a complete and complex world. Her fairies aren't just pretty. They have distinctive personalities, make mistakes and get into muddles but they are also resourceful. The environmental message is lightly woven into the narrative, which is full of surprising twists and turns. I think the junior children I used to teach would have enjoyed having this read to them as a serial. it would have given them plenty to talk about.

Packed with fun and adventure that will have you turning the pages - 4 out of 4
Honey Mountain is a sci-fi/fantasy book written by Jane Taylor. A young and beautiful fairy named Tansy discovers that bees are disappearing. Confused, and worried, Tansy and her best friend, Flum, go over to Hornbeam’s house for advice. Meanwhile, another fairy called Pim manages to get kidnapped by a couple of naughty gnomes. They hand him over to an evil wizard who wants to turn Pim into an imp. Imps were once fairies, but they disobeyed the fairy rules, and as a result, they no longer have their fairy abilities and they are no longer accepted in the fairy world. The four friends, Tansy, Flum, Sylfia, and Hornbeam embark on a journey to save Pim before it’s too late.
This book is packed with fun and adventure that will have you turning the pages. There are fairies, wizards, trolls, witches, and much more. So, there is something for every child to enjoy. Whilst reading, you feel like you are being transported to another world.
I love how unique all the characters are; I fell in love with every one of them. My favourite character would have to be Flum because he is energetic, goofy, and adorable, and every scene with him in made me laugh. All the characters in the book were very well developed; everybody learned something along the way. Pim’s character would have to be the one that went through a lot of change. Being kidnapped had taught him the true meaning of friendship. In addition to the characters, readers can also learn a thing or two from the book as well. For instance, the story teaches the idea of forgiveness and redemption. This can be seen when Hornbeam gives two imps a second chance to improve on themselves and become a fairy again.
I really liked the storyline; I was hooked in from the start to the end. I appreciate that Taylor kept the story moving fast and didn’t waste time with unnecessary information. Furthermore, Taylor’s descriptive writing is beautiful and hilarious; I was able to picture everything she described vividly. An example of this is on page 9 when she describes Flum as a “short fairy with a round comical face and a shock of sandy yellow hair which always stuck straight up in the air and no amount of cuckoo spit would make it lie down”.
I have nothing bad to say about the book. The story was engaging and written beautifully. On the whole, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it was an adorable, hilarious read. As it is not a serious book, I felt relaxed while reading it. As an adult, I enjoyed the book, so I know children will as well. I only found a couple of mistakes, so I believe the book has been professionally edited. I highly recommend this book to children aged 9-12. Taylor’s first published book turned out to be amazing, and I can’t wait to see what she puts out next.
